Quick and Easy Hairstyles for Busy Mornings

We’d all like to have the sort of mornings where we roll out of bed refreshed to pad leisurely to the bathroom and get fabulous at our own pace. Sadly, reality rarely conforms to this expectation, so every lady needs to keep a few tricks up her sleeve when time is running short.

When your messy beach curls won’t behave and a straightened look is right out of the question, here are some super-fast and cute but easy hairstyles that will get you out the door on time.

The Messy Bun

This one is a classic for a reason — it’s impossible to mess up. No matter how you do it, it looks like you meant it that way. You can super-charge the look by back-combing your roots for volume or using a hair donut to make the bun bigger. Chopsticks or pencils in the bun are a whimsical addition. Don’t forget the face-framing strands to complete the look.

The Romantic Braid

This is a style that takes some time to master, but once you get the hang of braiding your own hair, you’ll be really fast. The best part about braids is that people think they are hard to do, so even when you spend ten minutes on your hair, it looks like you spent an hour.
There are so many braid variations. A long central French Braid makes you look like an equestrienne. A simple strand going back from each temple is a soft and romantic look. You can even make a braid into a bun — side buns are very hot right now.

The Retro Kerchief

This is a great Saturday look. A brightly patterned kerchief is essential to pull it off. Fold the kerchief into a band about 4-5 inches wide. Pull your bands forward. If you don’t have bangs, pull a long section forward over your forehead and pin to one side. Then tie the kerchief on top of your head, tucking excess hair underneath. You’ll look fresh and saucy in this “Rosie the Riveter”-inspired ‘do.

The Perfect Ponytail

Smooth or messy, high or low, the ponytail is at once classic and unexpected. You exude confidence and poise with your hair pulled away from your face. A messy pony might not fly in an office atmosphere, but a clean sleek one will garner great reviews. Use a silicone smoothing serum to make fly-aways stay put.
